Kevin, all those accounts are precreated on installation. Anonymous users are allowed only from localhost however. The root user is your initial main user to allow you to configure your server, add other users etc.
The message you get comes from the fact that there are grants for a user which no longer exists. So it makes sense to remove those grants.
