I would like to see an integerated data flow diagraming and erd tool and be able to show the lineage of a field in a table. I think you could relatively easily extend the tool to also be a dfd diagramming tool. Then others could easily develop reports or even a web page type tool that displays the linage of data through a system.
IE. process X has input table 1 and output table 2.
Field 3 of table2
Update by Process X
inputs field 4 of table 1 and field 2 of table 1
By adding a shape symbol for processes, and a new diagram type you could implement a really cool capability that I have not seen implemented in other products. There are lots of DFD tools out there but I have not seen anyone implement it in a such a fashion that you could create a linage tree/report.
