Hi George,

Each time a new non-Server product is released, a new MySQL Installer bundle is released and the .x you mentioned is incremented. Each time a new server product is released, the MySQL Installer bundle name changes. In general, you should choose the bundle with the greatest .x version. Additionally, both the 5.5 bundles and the 5.6 bundles will allow you to install either or both versions via the Custom Install path.

I've got no guess what could be causing the other issue you describe. Would you please consider filing a bug against the MySQL Installer with the exact steps you followed that lead to the problem you described?

Cheers,
~Iggy
