Thanks for replying Peter, I appreciate it.

I need to keep MySQL 5.1 and 5.5 running, which is what I have now. Are you saying that 5.6 cannot coexist with other versions, like the older releases can? That would be a shame. As I recall, 5.5 installed alongside 5.1, all I had to do was choose different port, which it may even have defaulted to.

I work on a large commercial software product, and in addition to our most recent version, we support several prior releases, some of which are compatible with older MySQL versions.
