Instlalling any system is risky. Installing a dual boot Linux is probably not more risky than installing important Windows software (I know nothing about Windows, but I do know experimented Windows users who had to re-install their whole system).

Before any serious installation, you should backup your important data. An backups are also critically important for MySQL databases (using the mysqldump command, of course).

I still suggest backing up your important data, and (you may start during the backup) read relevant documentation. Then you may consider installing Linux (choose your favorite distribution, but read a book before installing it!).

I'm niot sure there is a simple installation of MySQL, because database management systems are complex software, and there can't be a simplisitc way of installing and using them.

In other words, I think you cannot avoid the effort of learning. And whatever you'll do, you have to take dozens of hours learning (about MySQL, or about Windows administration, and/or about Linux) - before being able to use your system (with MySQL).

But don't expect people reading this forum to do the learning efforts at your place.

I am not a MySQL expert.
