Querying satellite-sites and main sites together

Hello,

I'm interested in stationing my Apps on servers located on different continents. However, I still wish to be able to run statistical queries on single sites, or combine all the sites data in one query.

Hosting a single server doesn't seem to make sense for us since the App is pretty critical so each server sits at each office.

I thought about replication but each site's data will be unique (although the database schemas will be the same) and I do not wish to cross pollute data.

I'm reading up on the Merge tables, but don't know if I'm headed in the right direction so that I might combine all the sites tables into a standalone server and do my queries there.

Anybody face the same problem before?

Thanks!
