libmysql.dll incompatibilities

Hi,

I'm the mantainer of the LuaSQL MySql driver.
http://www.keplerproject.org/luasql/

The driver is implemented in C using Lua API and MySQL API.
I'm linking the driver dinamically to libmysql.dll.

1) Is this the right decision?

2) What are the compatibility commitments between mysql versions?

3) I see 4.1.8 and 4.1.9 libmysql.dll's are incompatibles!!! How come?

4) Do I have to release a driver for each mysql minor version?
