v4.1.9 under W2K: 'favicon.ico' not found, crashes Apache?

I recently installed 4.1.9 under W2K and since then have been seeing a strange problem while debugging a php program. I was working on the same program before I upped to 4.1 and didn't see the problem then. So I naturally wonder whether the problem is related to 4.1 somehow since, I believe, 4.1 is still in pre-release mode, albeit at 'gamma' level, presumably one step more reliable than 'beta'.

The problem is that when I execute the php program, I get an error message saying that Apache is to be closed and restarted because of errors. Checking the logfile, I find that the error is that the file 'favicon.ico' wasn't found. Since my program doesn't use and isn't trying to find any icon file at all, much less 'favicon.ico', I'm not sure what to make of this.

Anyone have any ideas about this? Has anyone seen anything like it?
