Rapid penetration into corporate environments, which also are most likely to want DBAs. Rapid penetration means relatively few people with many years of experience in the product, particularly years of corporate experience.

Six months to a year with a site growing from top 1,000 to top 75 web site and prior database experience was enough for me to learn the MySQL properties well enough. If you aren't doing it already you might seek DBA or developer/DBA with that sort of duration of MySQL DBA experience, provided the general database background is there in the rest of the resume.
