connecting to remote mysql database in lan using linux

my server is 182.168.1.6 . in that i am having user is vasanthra db is testing .
iam trying to connect from 192.168.1.45 to 192.168.1.6 it is throwing the error.
cannot connect to mysql from 192.168.1.45 to 192.168.1.6

command is
mysql -u vasanthra -h 192.168.1.6 -p

but i could not able to connect .
but all the machines are in LAN . iam using linux operating systems in both machines.
do the needful.
