I can set the time zone to UTC on the command line (default_time_zone='+00:00') and this solves my problem - thanks! I am unable to permanently set the global_time_zone to UTC via my.ini or Workbench. Both appear to accept the change but after stopping and restarting the server it reverts back to SYSTEM. Is this the expected behavior? If yes is there a way to make this change permanent?
