Is it _always_ 15 digits or less? (and 17 or less)
Or is it occasional? In this case, show us some examples.
Do you declare it "DOUBLE"? Or something like "DOUBLE(20,15)"? The latter is almost always foolish.
Since this is coming from mysqldump, the decimal value should provide exactly the same binary value after reloading. Does it?
