innodb_file_per_table question?

Hi everybody,
I'd like to have some help in understanding better the innodb_file_per_table option.
I tried to add it to my.cnf and i saw that now inside the data directory of my database i have separates files for the tables i have created. That's good but my question is another though. Is it possible to create a table in a totally different path, for example in another disk?
I've tried to specify the data directory when i created the table but nothing happened.
I have an ssd disk and another big hard drive and my idea is to store most of the tables on the ssd disk and a couple of huge tables in a directory on the standard hdd but so far i really couldn't figure out how to do it :(
Any hints or help will be really appreciated.
Thanks a lot,

Best,Nicola
