Hi All,
We are also facing the same error, but for us it is crashing every 5 minutes. and the logs show the following:
081219 15:32:18 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld: ready for connections.
Version: '5.1.30-community' socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'
port: 3306 MySQL Community Server (GPL)
081219 18:43:46 InnoDB: Error: the OS said file flush did not succeed
081219 18:43:46 InnoDB: Operating system error number 5 in a file operation.
InnoDB: Error number 5 means 'Input/output error'.
InnoDB: Some operating system error numbers are described at
InnoDB: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/operating-system-error-codes.html
InnoDB: File operation call: 'flush'.
InnoDB: Cannot continue operation.

The same OS/Hardware was working fine with the same application on 5.0 when we upgraded to 5.1 we see this.
Also surprisingly it is not in all servers only on one of our servers we see this problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
