I have a problem: I can install MySQL Community on a machine and the database another?

My need is to have MySql Community (Server) on a Windows computer and connect a network drive giving it a letter (example L:) and this unity "virtual" are databases that MySQL should read.

Hop tried in all ways but when it comes to restart the service MySQL I issued the error 1067 and the service is not restart. If I put data in default folder (C: \ Program Files \ MySQL \ MySQL Server 5.0 \ date) and reset the connection there: everything well again.

Someone knows what can I do?
