COUNT(*) on innodb

Hi,

I ran an experiment on an innodb table (10Million rows).
I used count(*) to monitor the table growth.
Unfortunately, I found it needed 8 minutes.
If I use SHOW TABLE STATUS, it only gives me an estimated row number.
Is there any other ways to work around?

Thank you very much,

Jacky
