That is, you can do SHOW CREATE TABLE and see the structure? And SHOW TABLE STATUS says Data_length is zero?

> mysql.log and mysql.err files in /var/log are both empty

What is the date on them? Were they always in that directory?

Are VMs involved? Does the cloud service have the right to move you around at will? With or without notice?

Talk with the Cloud service. What you describe is unlike anything I have heard of.
