InnoDB warning and error messages

As people work in MySQL on InnoDB engine tables, they want to see warning and error messages in the mysqld.log file in real time.

It seems at present that warning and error messages end up in the mysqld.log file the next day.

I've searched far and wide for discussion on what commands will send warning and error messages off to the mysqld.log file, but have not found any info yet.

Can anyone tell me or point me to documentation about what events cause InnoDB warnings and errors to get sent off to the mysqld.log file, or any other clear text log file?
