Thanks for your fast reply. Yeah that actually is our main aim, we are currently setting up geoserver and want to have all out data already in a DB rather than mapinfo files then exporting etc each time to update the webmapping.
Im guessing by finicky you mean unstable and I guess it would only work as a read only service using it from WFS. I think we might have to end up using Oracle as we have tried the demo and it integrated into both very well. Its just a shame Mapinfo don't expand their data support
Do you know if it is on the horizon for mapinfo supporting any open source DB's? It would be a great to see it all integrating and having one main DB for everything.
