Re: mysql: status - how are questions counted?

There was a time - as recent as mysql v4.0.x - that the status command would only increment the question count by 1. I don't remember the questions being incremented by 7 every time I executed a simple select from my java app.

I'm asking the question, because something has changed in the counting of the sql statements. And since "I fear what I don't understand", I'd like an explanation of the way mysql counts statements. What statements are counted? Why did they change the way they counted statements.

It seems to me that a useful statistics is one that gave the admin/developer an idea of how much load they are putting on the Db.
