Search on table with million records

Hi
I want to fetch records that match my search string on table with million records , the problem is that the data is not exact match and needs to be searched across three fields in the table .
Full text search doesnt work since it can be search for only exact words . Normal index doesnt solve the purpose .
Need your suggestions on the same
