It is not stalling for a few seconds, it will stall for minutes, usually I find out quite fast, but I have seen queries hanging for more than 15 minutes.
Other databases on the same server would work fine, but that specific table would hang in every request when it happens.
As I understand Percona XtraDB would be a complete replacement for MySQL ?
