It turned out that I had some errors in my benchmarking script, which gave rise to this strange difference between read and write speeds. It's still bloody abysmal, but now the server is 2 x as slow in writing and 4 x as slow in reading, which makes me suspect that the slower HD is being a bugger.
I don't have the old my.ini, unfortunately. Can't remember changing a lot in it when I installed the server 2,5 years ago.
I'll have a look at your link, though. Thanks for that.
