Any way to group by day with timezone and still use index?

Hello,

I have a query that has a Date column, and it groups by the date using the CONVERT_TZ function. Unfortunately no matter what I try the index is never used for the group by if I use CONVERT_TZ on it, while if I just group by the date column the index is used. Is there any workaround? Thanks
