Mysql Clustering == Duplicated Dummy?

hi, i m newbie to mysql clustering.

I wonder that the clustering, 99.999% uptimes is bcoz of the duplicated of N totally synchronized DB?

Means if my db size is 1GB, if i make upto 5 nodes, means i need 5GB to store my db records?

If yes, the db data insertion would be 4 times more cpu processing to perform a simple insertion?

Thanks.
