You've used the --background option (-B), meaning MCM will execute the start cluster command in the background. Please refer to the MCM documentation for further information on --background, and show status --operation in particular.

Your cluster should be started with procs reported as running after a short while, unless a problem/error is encountered. Using --background you'll have to check the operation result first, then look into the mcmd.log to see what the actual issue was. You'll find the same error logged, as would have been returned to you had you not used --background.
