ndb vs. ndbmtd

I am running a benchmark against mysql cluster, the cluster has 1 management node, 4 mysql nodes and 4 ndb nodes. Each machine has two cpus, each cpu only has one core. When I use ndb, the ndb nodes only can use 1 cpu, so I swithched to multi threaded ndb(ndbmtd). Ndbmtd can use the two cpus, but the performance is even worse, I can observer high context switch var sar. Can mysql cluster scale up on multiple cpus?
Thanks,
