Thanks for the suggestion; I've got both servers in the /etc/hosts file:
[root@db1 ~]# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 db1.(somesite).com db1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.168.135 db2.(somesite).com db2
[root@db2 ~]# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 db2.(somesite).com db2 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.168.132 db1.(somesite).com db1
