Replicating from innodb server to myisam server

Is there a possibility of replicating from an innodb server to a myisam server. I found that Chen Wang had a problem which you see in the link posted below. I could not find whether the problem was solved as the topic was closed (will be nice if i could find why the topics are closed and who closed it).

I think the logical replication pattern between multi-storage-engine servers will be : replicating from an innodb server to a myisam server since generally innodb is preferred for write operations and myisam is preferred for read operations. Replication can only happen from the write-server to the read-server and it cannot happen otherwise (Can it?). Please tell me if i thinking in the wrong route.

More importantly, is the posted problem still exist? or has it been solved?
