Provide output of the following, run the same commands on both masters.

SHOW SLAVE STATUS\G
SHOW MASTER STATUS;

Provide MySQL options files (i.e. /etc/my.cnf) of both master and slave hosts


>master server is 5.5.17 version with serverid 3 and slave is 5.1.51 version with server id 4 in dual master setup

Why do you use different MySQL version in a dual master setup?
