By putting two instances of mysqld on a machine, you are reaching into another area...
The "port" controls who to talk to. The default is 3306. Use something else for the second instance on the machine, say, 3307.
The server-id is internal to MySQL, and helps distinguish one machine from another. That value must be differ between the Master and its Slave(s).
