Is it possible to create a slave from backup w/o stopping the running database

Hi,

I need to create a replication slave for a standalone production database with about 2TB data. I have a cold backup plus all the HOT incremental backups.

My requirement is to create the slave instance without imposing any interruption to the operation of the production database.

I may be able to create the slave database instance via point-in-time restore, but how can I obtain the master-log-file and master-log-pos for the slave so that I do not loss data?

Thanks,

Harry
