This is a single database that is being logged and replicated that is hardly active at all - the main changes are ones I am making manually to test replication. When I make a change on the master (like adding a record) it has been taking several hours to propagate to the slave - this is too slow to be usable - what would it be like if this database were actually taking a few hits?
You're right - I have been starting and stopping mysql as I have tried changes to the my.cnf files on both to see what effect this has.
There are no major things going on on this database - like I say I am only adding or deleting a record and then waiting to see how long it takes to replicate...The two servers are in two server farms so connected by super-fast high bandwidth lines.
I will keep looking...
