Thanks for the advice Rick.

The server has not crashed and I'm restoring a known good copy of the database every time. The database is an InnoDB one (all the databases we have put on the server are InnoDB).

I'll have a look at pt-table-sync as well. My problem is that I may well be able to get the databases back in sync and replicating, but what happens when this happens again?

The other thing I'm going to try is to set the binlog_format=ROW, just to see if that helps (not holding out much hope as MIXED and STATEMENT haven't so far.)
