Re: Getting consistent backup of slave that has foreign keys

okay.. just an update on this (if anyone cares).

It LOOKS like the issue is with the backup slave data. I am still doing some more tests - and at 36 hours between tests it is slow going.

I took one of the prod slaves out of traffic and took a fresh backup from that.
At the SAME time, someone had mentioned that I might want to make sure the auto-incr offsets matched.

So I matched the auto-incr offset to that of the machine I took the new backup from, imported the fresh dump, and all worked fine.

So I decided to see what happens if I matched the offset with the backup slave, and use it's import. It DID NOT work.

So it seems like it is just the data on the backup slave that is bad (like someone once wrote data to it and now some keys are off).

I am just getting ready to take a second backup from the prod slave to see if it again imports perfectly.

I'll update when this is all done... I a couple of days.
