mysqldump standalone download?

Hi all,

I'd like to make a backup of my MySQL database, which is running on a remote server. I do not have shell-access to the server, nor do I have file-access to the database folders, but I can connect to the database.

As I understand it, mysqldump is the best and simplest way to go, especially if I want to automate my backups.

But I am baffled by that I can nowhere find a standalone download of mysqldump! Do I really have to install the complete MySQL server package just to make a backup? Is this because mysqldump depends on a locally running server?

Thanks, Peter
