I am running 5.5 under Windows XP - And Developing in VB2010.net .
I have sucessfully backed up the full database NAMEA with mysqldump.exe.
I Can sucessfully restore the .SQL file back to the NAMEA database.
I would like to restore back to a different name - ie NAMEB so that I dont overwrite the original at that point.
Sofar, all I can get to work is editing the .SQL file manually to replace the NAMEA references to NAMEB - and then it works.
However, since many websites suggest you can copy a database by piping the output of mysqldump into mysql - I was expecting to be able to able to specify NAMEB in the mysql command line so that it overrides the NAMEA's embedded in the .SQL
Surely my need to restore to a different name, or copy database A to B with the standard utilities is not rocket science.
