Ah that is exactly what I was looking for.

So for anyone that may have been following this thread here is a quick summary.

Running backups from a master/slave replication environment.

Run the MySQL Enterprise Backup on the slave and be sure to issue --slave-info in the MEB command. This will then store the masters binary log file name and position at the time of your incremental backup.
This allows us to backup our binary logs from the master to ensure we can roll forward to the latest point in time should the slaves fall behind for whatever reason.

As far as MEB goes I think this wraps up my solution.

Now time to explore commvault. Anyone out there have any experience with it ? I'd love to hear your comments/solutions using it especially regarding rolling forward using the binary logs.
