this happened to me too..not a nice experience for
a new person. I didn't change anything, just attempted
to start the service, and got the message. The my.ini
was shown as supposed to be in the \bin directory, but
the installed copy was in the ..\..Server 5.0 directory
so I put a copy back..no change..I tried playing with
config system..and now it wont even startup!..I created a
SQL scrpty called mySQL..did that do anything?

Eveything was fine..I added a new DB..new table..new fields..
now this..
