Re: Mysql Administrator error "Could not find settings"
I'm not sure but I think it has to do with the filenames and directories with spaces inside them (eg. C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini).
Maybe for some reason, MySQL Administrator doesn't recognize those kind of filenames (I had seen it to other programs, too).
You can also try using mysqld instead of mysqld-nt.
Uninstall MysqlAdministrator it and reinstall it to a "valid" folder (eg. C:\MysqlAdmin).
I had the same problem and I managed to solve it.
In my case, I had already installed Mysql and the service started in Directory C:\xampplite\mysql\bin manualy.
Then I installed MysqlAdministrator that installed a new mysql service in C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0 directory and whan I started it, the same error occured.
The only thing I did was to go to registry and change the value that Colin mentioned, from
"Image Path="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysqld-nt" --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini" MySQL
to
"C:\xampplite\mysql\bin\mysqld" --defaults-file="C:\xampplite\mysql\bin\my.ini" MySQL.
After starting service again, MySQLAdministrator worked fine.
Thanx Colin
