encoding issue

Hello everybody,

When I ssh into the server everything is working well, but after I'm logging into the particular MySQL DB I can not execute any command there, I'm getting error on MySQL syntax. I can work with the same DB from another computer very well. I suppose here some encoding issue between my Gnome Terminal and DB. I've tried to do the same from another terminals like XTerm , the same problem.... (hm, so maybe here something with my global Ubuntu
settings ? But from another hand I can work just fine with others databases...)

Any idea will be highly appreciated !

From the DB:
character_set_client latin1
From the Terminal : ISO Western - 8859 -1
I've tried to switch to different characters sets from terminal as well

Thanks,
Sasha
