InnoDB -> Need to restore (sorta)

Hi

If I have an innodb.dat file and I want to use this in mysql is there any way to import it?

I.E. It's a file based backup of a previous instance and I lost my HDD. So I've reinstalled all my services and want to put this db back in place.

I realise, 20/20 hindsight, that I should use a better hot backup util and I will for this next iterations, but I would really like to get this old DB back in place.

When I just do a straight copy of the .dat file into the mysql data directory (Where it should be) none of the databases are recognised.

Oh the other thing is that I do'nt have the "mysql" database from this old instance, just the 'innodb' stuff.

(Hope this makes sense) Hehe.

Thanks.
