Can't open file: 'abc_example.MYD'. (errno: 144)

Hello!
I am new to MySQL. I have developed a small application which has been running
fine for past one year. I have MySQL db ver 3.23.36. I have been getting this
error...Can't open file: 'abc_example.MYD'. (errno: 144) ...
I tried to repair it via phpmyadmin interface it returned me an error
saying operation failed? NOW after reading thru forums i am assuming this
particular table has crashed? how do i recover it...i have several users
who are waiting on me to resovle this immediately. Pls help immediately.
where do I start fn the whole repair process? How long its gonna take for
my db to be operational.
