I was just reading the documentation in the manual about the innodb file per table option, and I was wondering why it was per table, and not per database... Wouldn't per database allow better foreign key performance, as well as sufficient seperation between apps? Also, wouldn't multi-table transactions have better performance with a unified log per database?
I'm curious why it was done this way, not saying I necessarily know better, but I'd like to hear thoughts/opinions about why the system is this way, as it might lead to better performance in my use of mysql innodb.
