mysqldiff command line, not accepting "-" character in arguments

I have been trying to use mysqldiff, however my username and the development server url (--server1) both have a hyphen character in them and are throwing errors (invalid connection string), when i remove them I dont get this error but obviously the connection string doesnt work. I havetries to escape the hyphen with "\\" and "^" to no avail, could someone pls advise
