Sorry for the typo. Actually I switched from 5.1.30 to 5.5.19. I thin my innodb specific variables are already optimized.
The latest update is that now I have downgraded to 5.5.30 again and things are back to normal. Its really surprising that performance actually degraded a lot when upgrading to 5.5.
One important point is that we are using mac and not Linux. Can you let me know what can be the problems which hampered the performance.
