Hi,

I'm having the same problem with a hosted database on megasqlservers.com. The usernames on their system are max 64 characters, not 16. PHP works, but the MySQL client can't connect because it truncates the username.

This is becoming a serious problem.... I can't back up a 2Gb database via PHP as it times out. I can't replicate, can't dump, and see no way so far to fix the problem. NB I don't have a windoze compiler handy, so I can't fix this if it's in the source.

Is there an older version of the mysql client that might not blow chunks over this? In what version was this problem introduced?

Chris
