Dropping partition will affect index?

Hello,

Does dropping one of the partitions from a range partitioned table affect or impact on index or any data fetching performance ?

I have a huge table with cores of records and they are present in multiple partitions. I would like to know if there is any side effects on table in case of deleting selective partitions rather than deleting records with delete query and where clause.
