Connecting to MySQL from IBM Mainframe Host

We are trying to establish a MySQL connection from IBM Mainframe, MySQL runs on Redhat Linux. currently we're trying the approach using IBM DB2 DRDA Call with no luck.
Has anyone done this before, what are my options? appreciate your help!
