The patch works. This patch should be listed at the download page, highlighting the possibility of the MyODBC may not work on certain situation, and the patch is available to overcome the problem. I stumbled upon this page from a forum.
The first time I download MyODBC, the is no indication that it might not work. When the catastrophic failure occur, the first thing that came across my mind is that I don't use the latest MDAC. Updating the MDAC from 2.5 to 2.6 and then 2.7 still does not work. It turns out to be the problem of MyODBC.
